13 Handcraft Businesses You Can Run from Your Sitting Room

handcraft businesses you can do from home and make money

Business, business, business. Did you know that there are a lot of businesses that you can start from your home, including handcraft businesses?

Making money from the comfort of one’s home is a dream of so many, especially Stay At Home Moms.

Are you making money and being a full-time mum?

Ah! That’s the good life we are talking about.

But, so many moms don’t know what business they can do from home.

While you can start a blog, vlog, engage in online business, etc., today, I’ll concentrate on making money from handmade crafts.

All humans are creative.

They have beautiful minds that always want to create the next masterpiece.

However, some are more creative or artistic than others.

Handmade crafts are gradually going away, but they should not.

Crafts are usually so pretty and unique because individuals and not machines make them.

For example, a home-based jewellery maker will make more unique designs than a large-scale commercial jewellery maker.

I know so many of you have hand skills.

But I also know that you didn’t think you could make money from that skill.

This is the 21st-century honey; you can make money off anything.

13 Handcraft Businesses You Can Start From Home

1. Jewelry Making:

Jewellery is always in vogue.

Children and adults wear them.

If you love jewellery and can make them, you are good to go.

It can be a full-time job or a part-time job.

You can either make per order or make them and sell them.

You can also decide to deal with customising jewellery for people.

Yes, you can never go wrong with jewellery.

2. Bead Making:

Bead making is another handicraft skill that can give you money from your home.

You can use beads to make jewellery, bags and purses, footwear, vases, decorations, etc.

Just yesterday, I saw this stunning beaded purse, and wow, it was so beautiful.

I asked the young lady how much she bought the bag for, and she said 6,000 Naira.

That is about $12.

So, you can imagine the kind of money you could make doing what you love from home.

3. Tie-Dye:

Tie-dyes are very beautiful.

You can make any design of your choice and sell it.

Just learn different styles of tie-dye and start selling.

A guy in my school began his tie-dye career from his apartment.

In Nigerian colloquialism, he is a ‘big boy’ now.

4. T-shirts Designs and Customizations:

If you love designing t-shirts with pictures, quirky write-ups or both, you can do that from your home.

You can design whatever you wish, and you can also create per order.

I mean, little Ella’s face on a cute little t-shirt makes for a great 1st birthday gift.

5. Woodwork:

I know you’re like WOODWORK!

Have you seen those beautiful wooden pendants or earrings before?

That’s what I am talking about.

While these can’t be made from your living room, especially if you have little ones, you can dedicate a part of your house to it.

You can use wood to make jewellery, vases, home decorations, etc.

If you want to go even deeper, you can occasionally make customized cribs for babies and toddlers.

6. Hat Making:

I don’t know about you, but I love hats and hair fascinators.

And here’s one sure thing: there are a lot of people like me.

If you enjoy making hats and you know different styles, it is good business.

All you need to do is keep perfecting your skills, and before you know what is happening, you are making great money from it.

7. Knitting and Crocheting:

Knitted clothes are bae. If you love knitting, there’s a market for you.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there is a spike in knitted outfits now.

Everything from bikinis to dresses, to show and bags, etc., can be knitted.

Make money from your handiwork!

8. Hair Accessories:

There are different styles of hair accessories.

They can be made with plastic, wool, whatever clothing material, etc.

I saw this stunning velvet hair band on Kate Middleton, and I just said ‘wow’.

It was simple and exquisite.

You can make that.

Or you can make even complicated ones.

Whatever you decide to make, hair accessories are an excellent way to make money from home.

9. Sewing:

I love sewing.

Well, I think I love everything about making beautiful outfits. Haha.

Once you’re able to save some money for a sewing machine, you can start your business.

I have a neighbour who sews from his home.

There are a lot like him, and you can be one of them.

If you don’t have the time to sew new clothes, you can stick to clothing repair and amendments.

Whatever you choose, it’s a good business, and it doesn’t keep you away from home. Starting a fashion business as a stay-at-home mom is no small task, use the tips written in this blog post to get started on the right foot.
