7 Exciting Christmas Vacation Activities For Children

Kids love activities; that’s why they love Christmas. 😉

Find below a list of fun & exciting activities for you and your family.

Take a trip to the village:

As Nigerians, we’re known for traveling to our villages during the festive season. It is sometimes the only opportunity to travel and see our relatives and grandparents. Bringing children along adds to the experience because they get to see people they haven’t seen in a long time. When children learn that they will be meeting people who live in a different space from them, they become ecstatic. It provides them with stories to tell their peers when they return to school. All you have to do now is make sure they have a good time on vacation, so you don’t have any regrets.

Visit a park

Suppose you won’t be traveling to the village with your family. So, where else can you take your kids to? The park, of course!

This is one of the most enjoyable and educational locations to take your children; parks have a natural scent and a beautiful atmosphere that children will like; you can sit on the grass and enjoy a family picnic while breathing fresh air.

Visit the museum

A museum is a perfect place for kids. Museums foster children’s natural curiosity, which is essential for becoming lifelong learners. Museums look for unique connections and correlations that aren’t always obvious, giving us, the visitors, something new every time we go.

When it comes to visiting a museum, preparation is significantly more vital than it may appear. Sure, you may just go there, buy tickets, wander around, and have a good time, but you won’t be getting the most out of your time there.

Read Stories Together

A good Christmas story (or two!) is the best way to get into the holiday spirit. Fantastically festive stories such as The Advent of Christ, The Snowman, The Jolly Christmas Postman, and The Nightmare Before Christmas can help you spread a little cheer and provide you with an opportunity to spend some quality time with your family.

Why not make it a habit to do it every day in December? That’s fun if you ask me.

While you all munch on some delectable holiday appetizers, everyone can take turns choosing a story they love.

Watch Movies Together

There are a lot of Christmas movies available for you to watch with your kids. Watching movies can entertain and inform your children. It’s an opportunity to laugh, discuss and have fun together.

You could turn it into a family ritual where everyone can pick a movie they’ll love to watch during the weekends  (preferably). Then, the only prep you need is to organize some cookies, food, or chocolates; the children can munch on as they watch.

Laugh, eat and bond with your family this Christmas.

Also, the cinema is an excellent place to visit during Christmas. Suppose there’s a new Christmas movie out in cinemas only, you can take your children there. However, be sure to check the ratings before allowing your kids to sit and watch.

Decorate The House Together

Christmas Decorations are always exciting to set up. However, allowing children to assist in decorating makes them happier and needed.

Take them along when you’re buying the Christmas tree, lights, and posters. Allow them to hang the lights on the Christmas tree. Let them help you!

Also, decorate Christmas cards with them, and encourage them to share the cards with their friends. This helps them understand that Christmas is a season of love.

Play Outdoor & Indoor Games Together

Indoor Games like Scrabble, Ludo & Chess increase the intellectual capacity of your children. Find time to engage them in such games.

Sometimes, you can decide to take the games outside. Outdoor games like Charade, Family Feud, etc., are a great way to keep everyone busy.
