Top 8 Amazing Benefits of Breastfeeding Your Baby

benefits of breastfeeding your baby

Truly, there are lots of amazing benefits of breastfeeding your baby.

But most moms would want to be baby girls for life.

You could tell when you hear a mom say, I can’t breastfeed my baby, ooo, because I don’t want my breast to sag!

Well, let me let you know this, whether you breastfeed your child or not, when it’s time for your breast to sag, it will.

Yet, that does not mean you should not take care of your breast during breastfeeding periods.

One good practice is always to wear a well-fitted bra to hold your breast firm.

This will help to keep your breast as beautiful as you want it, at least until age comes beckoning.

Yes!

Like I hinted earlier, all breasts will fall with age.

You don’t expect the breast to be the same as when they just started sprouting. Do you?😁

Okay, away from all of these breast lectures, let’s see the benefits of breastfeeding your baby.

Let’s go!!

What are the benefits of breastfeeding your baby?

Here are some excellent benefits you derive from breastfeeding your baby regularly;

1. You develop bonding with the child:

For a newborn baby, the first person, the baby, knows is the mom by perceiving her.

I mean, your baby will know you by your smell.

So, kindly don’t deny your baby the ability to explore with their sense of smell.

2. Breast milk is your baby’s first vaccine/immunisation:

The first milk that comes out after delivery is called  COLOSTRUM.

This colostrum serves as your baby’s first vaccine.

It provides a high amount of immunoglobulin  A and other antibodies to your baby.

IgA (Immunoglobulin A) protects the baby from getting sick by forming a protective layer in the baby’s nose, throat, and digestive system.

It’s important to know that formulas do not provide these antibodies for your child.

Studies from the National Institute of Health shows that formula-fed babies are more prone to health issues like diarrhoea, pneumonia, and other infections.

3. Breast milk provides ideal nutrition for babies:

Most healthcare professionals recommend exclusive breastfeeding for at least six months or much longer.

Breast milk contains everything a baby needs for the first six months of life, in all the right proportions.

Its composition changes according to the baby’s changing needs, especially during the first month of life.

The Colostrum produced during the first days after birth is high in protein, low in sugar, and loaded with beneficial compounds.

It’s truly a wonder food and not replaceable by formula.

4. Breastfeeding your baby is beneficial for healthy weight gain:

Please, what can I give my baby so that they can gain weight?

Well, the answer is now apparent… breastfeed the baby properly.

Breastfed babies self-regulate their milk intake.

They’re better at eating until they’ve satisfied their hunger, which helps them develop healthy eating patterns.

Note that they would not be obese; instead, they would look healthy and weighty when lifted.

5. Breastfed babies are smarter:

Oh, I wish my baby could be as bright as this child!😫

Well, stop wishing and start breastfeeding.

One of the benefits of breastfeeding your baby is that it helps to develop intelligent brains.

There may be a difference in brain development between breastfed and formula-fed babies.

This difference may be due to the physical intimacy, touch, and eye contact associated with breastfeeding as well as nutrient content.

Breastfed babies have higher intelligence scores and are less likely to develop behavioural problems.

Also, they rarely have learning difficulties as they grow older.

6. Breastfeeding keeps unnecessary infections away:

Breastfeeding reduces disease risk, especially Exclusive breastfeeding.

Exclusive breastfeeding is one in which the infant receives only breast milk for the first six months.

And that goes without complimentary food or water.

It may reduce your baby’s risk for many illnesses and diseases, including Middle ear infections, diabetes in babies, diarrhoea, childhood leukaemia, sudden infant death(SID), Asthma, Eczema, Ulcer, etc.

7. Breastfeeding helps babies sleep to sleep easily:

There are stories about breastfed babies waking up at intervals to suckle.

Well, that’s true!

But what is more accurate is that they go back to sleep almost immediately.

That happens because the oxytocin produced in your baby’s body when he breastfeeds makes him feel sleepy afterwards.

Also, other hormones and nucleotides in your milk help your baby develop healthy circadian rhythms (sleep-wake patterns).

So, Mamma, you don’t need to sedate your baby; your breast milk can work beautiful wonders.

8. Breastfeeding saves time and money:

Nature has provided everything the baby needs to feed on and grow.

And breastfeeding is primarily free, removing expenses.

By choosing to breastfeed, you won’t have to:

  • Spend money on baby formulas.
  • Calculate how much your baby needs to drink daily.
  • Spend time cleaning and sterilising bottles.
  • Mix and warm up bottles in the middle of the night (or day).
  • Figure out ways to warm up bottles while on the go.

Breast milk is always at the right temperature and ready to drink.

As a mom, breastfeeding would also help you too;

  • By contracting the uterus
  • Reduce mom disease risk
  • Lower risk of depression In mom’s
  • Breastfeeding helps moms lose weight too.

Endnote:

Baby girl, you already see that there are lots of benefits of breastfeeding your child.

So, do your best for your baby by doing the needful.
