How to Make Money by Editing Videos
Did you know that you can make money by editing videos?
To say that video content is on the rise is only an understatement.
If you’re looking for ways to make extra money, video editing is the way to go.
There are over a billion videos on the internet today.
Videos seem to sell more than any other form of media.
They are also the most likely media to go viral.
Due to the number of videos online, video editing has become more popular.
Video editors are needed to make ads, youtube videos, Instagram content and many other things.
Companies and personal brands are on the constant lookout for excellent video content creators.
Video editors were rare, and well, it wasn’t a “nice” job in the past.
Today, it is a competitive area.
Can I Use My Phone to Edit Videos?
Because of the size of some video editing software, a laptop or desktop is usually more preferred.
And of course, using software on a laptop makes you have access to more features or tools.
However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t use your phone.
A good number of video editing software have lighter, ‘lower’ versions that can suit your phone.
There is a lot of video editing software.
They include Adobe premiere, Wondershare Filmora, etc.
However, these are usually used on a laptop or desktop and usually come with a price.
Or strong wi-fi connection to download some effects.
Above is a screenshot of how Wondershare Filmora looks on a laptop.
The baby/phone version – FilmoraGo, is not as elaborate as this.
It has essential video editing tools like cut, trim, zoom, add music, etc.
As a beginner, you can use your phone and other video editing apps to start.

What Apps Can I Use For Video Editing?
There are so many video editing apps available for both android and iPhone users.
Some of these apps are:
- KineMaster
- VivaVideo
- InShot
- iMovie
- VideoShow
- Adobe Premiere Rush
- Horizon
- Filmmaker Pro
- FilmoraGo
- PowerDirector
All the apps listed above are free. And they contain essential video editing tools.
The downside to all is that they all contain ads and watermarks on the free version.
1. KineMaster:
KineMaster has an incredible interface.
You can add effects, text, music, more pictures, etc.
You can also record audio or music to add to your video!
Additionally, you can go to their store to get more effects.
It is hands down one of the best video editing apps for android users.
However, it is also one of the most expensive if you want to upgrade.
2. VivaVideo:
I love this app.
Apart from the fact that it can do basic video editing, it also has over 200 video filters.
Have you heard of slow-mo? VivaVideo can make a fast and slow motion.
Another advantage it has over other apps is that you can upgrade to any version of your choice.
Yes, there’s an extended range of upgrades!
3. InShot:
This is for everything visual content.
You can edit videos, make collages, do some basic video editing, etc.
Apart from the basic video editing features, it can also rotate and flip footage.
4. iMovie:
Sorry Android users; this isn’t for you.
This app is exclusive to iPhone users.
It is for beginners.
The interface makes for easy understanding.
However, it has limited tools.
5. VideoShow:
This app is straightforward to use.
You can use it to add text, soundtrack, audio recording, etc.
You can also add animated transitions and filters.
It is especially great for vloggers who may want to combine a lot of clips!
6. Adobe Premiere Rush:
This app is just the baby Adobe Premiere Pro.
It is mostly used because of its remarkable features like speed adjustment, colour enhancement, crop, zoom effects, reframe, etc.
It also has built-in overlays and titles that you can customize to your taste.
Apart from these, it is very easy to share an edited video to social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, etc.
For YouTubers, this is very good for easy editing.
The upgraded version allows you to even auto reframe the videos for the different social media.
7. Horizon:
This is mainly used to straighten images and videos.
However, iPhone users have more advantages over android users when using this app because it is not as developed in android phones.
8. Filmmaker Pro:
Again, sorry, android users.
This app is one of the best and technical video editing apps for iPhone users.
Its upgrade price is one of the highest among video editing apps.
Filmmaker Pro allows you to adjust the colour gradient, white balance, saturation, and contrast of footage.
An upgraded version lets you access every feature and tool.
The most exciting part of the upgraded version is that you can take total control over your video editing
9. FilmoraGo:
This app is one of the few that do not contain watermarks even on their free version.
You can add overlays, effects, titles, themes, soundtrack, etc.
It is very InstagramInstagram-friendly.
The better version of FilmoraGo is, honestly, FimoraGo on your desktop.
It is easy to use, and it doesn’t overwhelm beginners.
10. PowerDirector:
This app is perfect.
Apart from direct effects and tools, you can also do a little bit of motion tracking here!
Its updated version contains even more advanced tools like video stabilization, chroma key creative sound effects and voiceovers, and even video timelines; it’s incredible to think this app is free for beginners.
The only disadvantage is that it can be tricky to learn at first, and it doesn’t provide every tool you need for motion graphics.
